The PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) economy is a fundamental pillar of the Italian agrifood system. An added value of the country’s economy, a further evidence of the strength of our supply chains and the quality that made in Italy represents in the world. In addition to making a major contribution to Italy’s economic development, the PDO economy ensures employment growth and strengthens cultural identity.
This is clearly demonstrated by the figures of the XXII Ismea Qualivita Report 2024 on Italian PDO, PGI and STG food and mine production presented in Rome last December in the presence of the Italian Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida.
